Top 4 Reasons to Celebrate July 4th at the Shore

Red, White & You | July 4th at the South Jersey Shore

What could be more all-American than spending July 4th at the South Jersey Shore? Named one of the Best U.S. Fireworks Displays by the Travel Channel, Atlantic City (and the entire South Shore region), is known for its clean beach, family-friendly atmosphere, and multitude of activities and events. Read on to find out why you need to spend your holiday here:

  1. Freedom

Celebrate your freedom in the place that makes you feel free! There’s nothing like having the sun on your face and sand between your toes to help you appreciate the freedom we have here in the U.S.A.  Kick off your celebration at the Music Pier in Ocean City with your favorite patriotic songs. On July 2nd, Justin Gonzales will take the stage with POPS Orchestra to remember those who have fought for our freedom and continue to defend it today.

  2. Fireworks

Bring a chair or a blanket and you’ve got the best seat in the house for fireworks in South Jersey. Fireworks displays will be held at several locations around the area on July 4th. Visitors staying in the Wildwood area will be dazzled  by the Firework Spectacular all along the Boardwalk as fireworks light up the sky at Pine Ave at 10:00 p.m. If you’re staying in Ocean City, then the Music Pier and 10th Avenue is the place to be. The city’s firework display will brighten up your night from any spot on the boardwalk. In Atlantic City, many resorts will have their own fireworks displays, including Tropicana and Borgata, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Relax in the sand with a drink in your hand as live music plays and fireworks are shot from the Marina.

  3. Festivities

The South Jersey Shore keeps the party going all day long with fun entertainment and activities. Start your July 4th at 9:00 a.m. in Wildwood (Bill Henfey Park) with the Patriotic Pooch Parade, a fun filled family-friendly parade. Adding a competitive twist, Patriotic Pooch awards prizes to owners and pets alike that show their best stars, stripes, and sparkled attire.  If you are in Ocean City, you have a pick of two local Bike Parades at Longport Bridge or Asbury Avenue.  After the parades, participants can enjoy the sunshine at the beach before the Boardwalk Celebration begin at 7:00 p.m. Join family and friends at the Music Pier for a kite flying competition, yo-yo demonstration, and hula hoop contest. Finally, guests can sit back and finish the day with free live entertainment taking place prior to the Ocean City fireworks displays.

  4. Food

What’s a birthday party without the food? The South Jersey Shore offers miles of restaurants, from fine dining to casual cuisine. For some fresh East Coast seafood, stop by Laguna Grill and Rum Bar in Brigantine to enjoy live music and a beautiful outdoor seating area in the sand. You can’t go to Wildwood without stopping by a local diner, so check out Marvi’s Diner for some classic American food.  If you’re in Ocean City, start a new tradition this July 4th with the The Chatterbox.  Open for the last 80 years, The Chatterbox promises amazing food and atmosphere that will keep your family coming back for more. The festivities continue into July 5th in Ocean City with everyone’s favorite Pie Eating Contest!  Whether you love apple or cherry, join the contest at 10:30 a.m. on the Boardwalk between the Music Pier and Moorlyn Terrace.

The 4th of July is only four short weeks away and our vacation rentals are filling up fast! If you haven’t booked your South Jersey Shore vacation, now is the time to do it. Travel Smarter, Not Harder at the Shore

Travel Smarter, Not Harder

If you’ve ever driven to the South Jersey Shore in summer on a Saturday, you know that traffic is a given. From Brigantine down to Wildwood, the sheer volume of visitors to these popular barrier island towns presents a unique challenge.  In Ocean City, NJ alone, over a million visitors a year flock to the area, transforming the normally quiet town of only 11,000 year-round residents into a vibrant resort. Yet, Ocean City is only 6.3 square miles in size and a skinny 8 miles in length, with just four ways on and off the island. If you’re traveling during peak days or peak hours, you will likely find yourself crawling along like a group of slow-motion sea turtles. Not exactly the most peaceful way to start (or end) your vacation!

Think Like a Local – Beat the Peak

What’s a determined beach-goer to do? All you’re trying to do is enjoy your vacation, right? As many locals & long-time visitors know, the key to avoiding traffic is arriving and departing during off-peak times. That’s why select homes in Vantage’s inventory offer Friday-Friday rentals, which allow guests to arrive and depart on a day of the week that typically has a lower traffic volume. That means while all the other visitors are battling the masses on a Saturday afternoon, you can be relaxing in your beach chair, eating french fries on the Boardwalk, or crabbing and fishing on the bay. See below for some of our favorite properties that offer a great alternative to the traditional Saturday rental:
